M'hamed El Aisati

M’hamed el Aisati serves as the Vice President of Product Management for Analytical and Data Services at Elsevier. He earned his MSc in Computer Sciences from the University of Amsterdam in The Netherlands. Joining Elsevier in 1998, M’hamed played a pivotal role in the development of the initial Elsevier digital journals platform preceding ScienceDirect. In 2004, he was instrumental in the inception of Scopus, a project he helped bring to fruition.
Currently, M’hamed leads a dedicated team focused on data and analytics, supporting extensive research performance evaluation initiatives. He oversees the application of analytical tools in large-scale projects aimed at providing valuable insights to research institutions, governments, and funding agencies. These insights aid in the formulation of strategies to enhance funding allocation and showcase impact.
Furthermore, M’hamed is a recognized expert in university rankings, serving as Elsevier’s liaison with ranking providers such as THE and QS. Holding two patents, his expertise spans product development, big data, analytics, and service-oriented architecture.
